Welcome to The Martin Nest Blog
I’m so happy that you’re here, especially because that means that I didn’t completely screw this whole website thing up…..yet.
My name is Jessica, and if you’ve made it here on a whim, hop on over here to learn a little more about me. In a nutshell, I’m a mother, a wife, a registered pharmacist, and I am passionately creative. If you choose to stick around, (which I sure do hope you will) you’ll find that I share a little bit of everything, but my primary focus is DIY & organization. I like to combine these two things to develop functional spaces for our family of five.
Up until now my primary platform for sharing has been Instagram. I even purchased the domain name for this website a mere 4 years ago with the intent of blogging all along. Something, okay a few things, have been holding me back. For whatever reason I just wasn’t in the right season of life or frame of mind/motivation to move forward with it. So why now you ask? I can’t really tell you for certain, but do you ever just feel a nudge? Like your heart is telling you that it’s time to just go for it and throw caution to the wind? I’ve had that nudge for a while now, and I’m just not shaking it.
My Why
- Like I mentioned above, I am a creative person by nature. My mind is ALWAYS three steps ahead of what I’m actually doing, and it’s not uncommon for me to have half a dozen “projects” going on at once. Ask my husband how he feels about that one. ; )
- I’ve been doing the Instagram / Facebook / Social Media hustle for a while now. I’m a talkative person, and I’ve usually got a lot to say, especially when it comes to my interests. The long form capability of a blog is ideal for a more in depth explanation of the spaces I create.
- I love the idea of a platform that I own. Social media sites are fantastic, and I love social sharing, but they can go away in the blink of an eye. Along with all of your hard work & content. This will be a space that I can call my own as well as a creative outlet for me.
We all start somewhere
So clearly I have no formal training in blogging. SEO is like a foreign language to me, and the photography around here is lukewarm at best (hopefully only temporary!) But here I am, nervous and scared to put even more out there, but I’m going for it. Sometimes I think the hardest part of doing that thing is just taking the first step and getting started already!
This quote from my fave author and spirit animal, Rachel Hollis, pretty much sums it all up “Anytime you try something new, you don’t know what you’re doing! You just have to try and do your level best and get it right. Know that over time you can improve and make it better, but dang it, you can’t make anything better if you don’t take the first step & put it out into the world!”
So here ya go world!!!!! I’m coming for ya!
