Master Bathroom Makeover
When decor and DIY run deep in your veins and Pinterest browsing keeps you up at night it’s so easy to get wrapped up in how much you haven’t accomplished in comparison to all the projects you still want to check off of your list.
We are quickly rolling up on the one year anniversary of purchasing our second home together, and I have SO many things I still want to do. BUT after spending a good hour scrolling through the thousands of images on my phone recently, I was reminded of how much work has been done here in the past months.
We purchased a home from the nicest couple you will ever meet, and it was incredibly well maintained. So lucky for me, I got to dive right in with all of the fun things that come along with home ownership. I immediately started putting my own touch on things. One of the rooms I would say is MOST complete for now is our Master Bathroom. I had a couple of the bigger renovations hired out to save my marriage sanity, so the number and quality of before images is limited. Say HEY to my mama down there who went and snapped a few for me before demo started!

I wanted to have some of the bigger tasks done and out of the way before we ever moved in, so invested in whole house paint (Sherwin Williams Repose Grey), new flooring and new trim/baseboards. These three things alone completely transformed the entire home.
I also had new ceramic tile installed in the Master Bathroom. This Forties-esque vintage tile is my absolute favorite, and I’m so glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone here and went with a bold pattern. I chose a black grout line here, but it also looks great with a white depending on your preference.
Another colorful update included painting the tub surround and vanity with this Magnolia Green chalk paint from the Joanna Gaines paint line. I’ve used a variety of different chalk paints, and this one didn’t disappoint. I love that it required very little surface prep. I just sprayed down with Krud Kutter and lightly sanded with a sanding block. Just enough to take off the sheen. I’ve linked it HERE along with a few of my other favorite DIY products. It’s amazing what a little paint to do to transform a space if you’re on a budget.
These DIY bracket shelves add some function and fun. You can check out the full tutorial and supply list HERE.
Some other little extra touches helped to update the space as well. We installed a sliding barn door, did some DIY towel hooks, and hung a fun patterned shower curtain to cover the sliding glass doors.
I’m so pleased with how this little space has come together! The bold patterns and bright colors are quite the shift from my normal neutral loving heart, but I think a smaller space is a great place to step out of your comfort zone and try something new! I’ll be sharing how I keep our deep vanity drawers organized soon!
